Forthcoming Holidays:
Revolution Tours Posted Friday, August 4, 2006 by sidcupcc
First, Some Background:
Revolution Tours is made up of Alain Cordier, Matt Taylor and Nigel Hill, three of the organising team from the very successful Pedal to Paris bike rides for the Royal British Legion, and othe high profile charity cycling events like Calais2Cannes and the London-Paris Cycle Tour.
After many years of talking about organising social rides, we have created Revolution Tours.
Our rides designed for the cyclist whom enjoys good company, good food and good wine (note from the editor, not necessarily in order of preference). There are normally two ability groups; the social group and fast group. The former will ride at 11-14mph and the latter at an average of 16-19mph.
Revolution Tours is different from other tour companies. Many focus on cost cutting to provide cheap cycling holidays (this invariably leads to poorer service). We believe that the discerning cyclist actually wants value for money and to be closeted whilst they are on holiday. The people that are Revolution Tours have developed some unique contacts in France and because of these we can offer a unique cycling holiday experience. Most of our rides include the services of mechanics support, lead cars and motor escort.
Our typical itinary is as follows:
Cyclists make their own way across the Channel. (They can be met at Calais docks and guided to the hotel).
Friday night afternoon/evening, meet at the hotel. Dinner in the hotel.
Saturday morning riders depart 9.00am for a 35-40 mile ride. Lunch at a local restaurant, followed by an afternoon ride of 25-30miles.
Saturday evening- coach to a local restaurant and coached back to our hotel.
Sunday morning ride departs 10.00am for a circular route of 35-40 miles finishing at the hotel. Lunch at the hotel.
Depart 3.00 from the hotel for visit to a local wine merchant before we catch our return connections back to the U.K.
For the riders’ other halves that don’t ride, then a taxi to Boulogne is organised, and they can spend the day shopping or make use of the hotel facilities. Alternatively they can explore the delights of the Pas de Calais region by car.
