Eddy Merckx
Sidcup Cycles is very proud to announce the introduction of Eddy Merckx frames and bicycles.
The Merckx legend is justly founded. These top level frames are hand made in Europe.
Each frame is checked for alignment within sixty minutes of construction. This means minimum stress to the tube joint. The welds are hand finished before the frame is sent to the paint-shop.
Here, regardless of model, all of the quality control proceedures are the same.
In many cases, each colour is applied as a seperate coat. This builds a depth of colour that is durable for decades. No plastic graphics are used on a Merckx frame. Even where water transfers are used instead of masked paint, they are sealed under a durable clear coat.
Generally, because Merckx still fabricate in Europe, along with factory repainting, repairs to Merckx frames are possible and they can be carried out in timely fashion. Repairs are carried out at the factory in Meise, near Brussels, and in urgent cases can often be turned around within 2 weeks.
There are two subsections in this area. The Eddy Merckx Complete Bikes section gives prices & specs of the bikes as they appear in the images on this website. The Framesets section gives prices for frame and forks, which in some cases (indicated) also includes a seatpost.
Other combinations of groupset and finishing kit, and indeed older colour patterns are available but for these requirements, please contact us directly.

Scott
Scott bikes grew out of the 1980s growth in Mountain Biking, although the company itself is much older, having long been involved in skiing and motorsports.
The initial driver for Scott's move into MTB was the development of bikes to ride the ski trails in the summer, when there was no snow ... and SCott were amongst the first of the US producers to bring their product to Europe - hence their designs had "European" features, like increased mud clearance over many of their US-designed competitors, built in from day 1.
1989 saw a co-operation between inventor Boone Lennon and Scott produce the first tribar, patented worldwide by Scott, and used by Aerican Greg LeMond in his slimmest-ever-time-margin win over Laurent Fignon in the Tour de France that year. This heralded Scotts move into, and intimate association with, the European Road race market, demonstrated by their ongoing support for the Saunier Duval Pro-Tour team and the UK's own David Millar.
